Fire knows no bounds – it can occur anywhere at anytime.
Responsibility for managing fire in premises lies with those responsible for the premises; the Fire Service has an enforcement role in ensuring that in all but domestic premises a ‘suitable & sufficient’ Fire Risk Assessment has been carried out. The level of detail of the Fire Risk Assessment should reflect the complexity and inherent risk of the premises.
SWSM can help employers by providing a systematic Fire Risk Assessment for the premises or reviewing those created in-house.
SWSM can help by
- developing your Fire Risk Assessment
- reviewing your fire prevention and response procedures
- undertaking staff briefings to ensure that they understand their priorities when the alarm is raised.
SWSM will also help you consider how you will maintain business/services once the fire has been extinguished – the majority of businesses that suffer a significant fire will not be in business a year later.
